https://jxuanc.com/Dree Dree - dream a little dream A design challenge I received from a job interview – “Create a new product idea and define the key UX features that can improve billions of people's lives by enabling them to record and track their dreams.” Time constraint – “4~5 hours. If you're feeling inspired and want to spend more time, you are welcome to do so, but it is not required or expected. ” As a dream enthusiast, I have a lot of inspirations, so I spent 2 hours on I control the ambient music by streching the strings which are made from strech sensor and tapping the water to play notes. Each string is programmed with different tones in Pure Data, the sensors catch subtle changes and send real-time data to Pure Data which controls the on/off, the pitch and the tempo of the tones. In this class, we collaborated with Rockford&nbsp;Specialties, which is a wire forming &amp; cutting manufacturer. We developed the design based on the communication with the manufacturer, and learned about the available method and the constraints of making the designs that could be produced in-multiple. The following images illustrated how I shaped and reshaped my design from sketch to real product. The technical drawings is the final version I submitted to the manufacturer and the final product is made by myself with the assistance of technician in RISD’s metal shop. In the making process, I encountered many “technical limitations”, but surprisingly, these limitations led to lovely &amp;&nbsp;aesthetic details that I and my peers in the class enjoyed more than the original Rhino model. Quote from Jonah, “Trust the process.” I totally agree! I got inspiration from flowers.
